Paper car mat

Continuing the car theme, we made a paper car mat last week.  We started with a piece of paper the size of A’s creative corner table and he helped me to stick down strips of black paper to make roads.  We then added a few houses and trees and finally created some basic road markings using a bit of thin shiny tape left over from Christmas.  It’s proved very popular with the wee man and we’ve continued to add to it over the week.  I started adding wooden blocks for extra houses and yesterday A made one himself, a triangle perfectly placed on top of a square block.  He was very pleased with himself and I could hear him saying ‘House!  There…house!’  Today I drew a duck pond while A added red stickers for apples on of the trees.  One of our favourite books, ‘Apple Pigs‘, involves an apple tree so A’s very into apples.  It’s a hand me down from Mr H’s childhood library and sadly out of print I think.
