Boys like jumpers

The little slipover I was knitting for the wee man is finished! Hip hip hooray! It took me close to two months from start to finish but it spent most of that time sat at the bottom of a crumpled paper bag waiting to be picked up again.  I had a bit of a crisis when I sewed the wrong shoulder seem together and then had to follow part of the pattern in reverse to get the neck edging right but it worked out in the end.  Perfect for cool spring days.  The pattern is from Debbie Bliss’ Essential Kids and I played it safe and used her baby cashmerino yarn in grey and red.

I can’t wait to start the next project.  Mr H has got a little overexcited at the possibility of a hand-knitted jumper and has spent ages researching wool and specifying undyed yarn from seaweed eating sheep up in North Ronaldsay.  Somehow the twisted hanks that arrived seem to smell of the sea but it’s almost certainly in the imagination.
